Every interior designer will remind you of the importance of planning your lighting before you set up your room. Sadly, far too often, lighting is added at the end of a project rather than being considered from the very beginning.
Personally I am partial to most lighting! Wall lighting, pendant lights, chandeliers (love them!), table lamps, floor lamps, lanterns, candlelight and so much more.
Here are some fabulous lighting examples from my recent projects ...

Southwell, Nottinghamshire Project: Sourcing 3 enormous chandeliers for this ballroom was an enormous challenge, but deeply satisfying once the electrics and lighting were installed. Beautiful!

Newark, Nottinghamshire Project: With a 200 year old handpainted ceiling, this room was never going to work with minimalist lighting, so instead we sourced this gorgeous crystal chandelier from Turkey.

Whitby, Yorkshire Project: These simple chrome pendant light lanterns, are a lovely nod to the simplicity of this kitchen.

Whitby, Yorkshire Project: With traditional high ceilings, this Victorian Terrace was calling for a statement piece lighting to reflect it's seaside position. This beaded chandelier from Graham and Green was perfect for the room.

Southwell, Nottinghamshire Project:These pretty table lamps with emerald green velvet shades (French Bedroom Company) are just right for the pretty French styled bedroom offering pops of vibrant colour.

Whitby, Yorkshire Project: I love these orange ceramic table lamps with pretty Ikat style navy lampshades from Pooky Lighting. Their scale supports the styling in the room beautifully.

Whitby, Yorkshire Project: This combined kitchen and dining room have an abundance of lights including spots, pendants and a beaded chandelier. Nevertheless, table lamps were needed at the front door to light up the console table. These pretty chinoiserie style lamps from Ralph Lauren are on variable timers, ideal for a holiday let when you are away.

Southwell, Nottinghamshire Project: This traditional library doesn't have ceiling lights, only wall lights and table lamps. The original wall lights were from the mid fifties, and not right for the traditional style library, so instead we sourced these French globe lights from eBay to return the Library to it's traditional, elegant and refined style.

Southwell, Nottinghamshire Project: Originally a private study, we converted the room into a bar for private use by overnight guests. The existing lights included chrome 90's lighting, so instead we sourced original chandeliers and wall lights from France. While the lighting doesn't match exactly (this wasn't possible), the end result is exactly what we were hoping for, elegant, decadent and masculine.
